About Ballandean
Ballandean is a town in the Granite Belt wine region of Queensland's southern Darling Downs, on the New England Highway beside the Severn River. The surrounding district, home to the region's first commercial orchard, produces grapes, apples and other stone fruit. The town was surveyed in 1872 and grew around the Britannia Inn, taking its name from Ballindean House in Scotland. The Ballandean Pyramid is a well-known roadside landmark.
