About Westwood (Qld)

Westwood is a town and locality in Central Queensland, split between the Rockhampton Region and the Shire of Banana. It was the first town gazetted by the Queensland Government, on 23 May 1860, shortly after the colony separated from New South Wales. Now a quiet grazing district about 45 km south-west of Rockhampton, Westwood once had a railway that carried traffic from Rockhampton towards the Central West.
