About Pink Lily
Pink Lily is a rural locality in the Rockhampton Region of Queensland, on the western bank of the Fitzroy River on the northern fringe of Rockhampton. It takes its name from the Pink Lily railway station, opened in 1916, which was in turn named after Pink Lily Lagoon, the lagoon of pink water-lilies that explorers Charles and William Archer recorded when they discovered the Fitzroy River in 1853. The area was settled early, with a state school operating from 1872 to 1971, and today remains sparsely settled river-flat country, part of which the proposed Rockhampton Ring Road is planned to cross.
