About The Range (Qld)

The Range is an inner suburb of Rockhampton, located about 2 kilometres southwest of the city centre in the Rockhampton Region, Queensland. It occupies the Athelstane Range, with Agnes Street along the ridge line. The name derives from the range, named for Mount Athelstane, a residence built by Lands Commissioner William Wiseman around 1859. Notable landmarks include the Rockhampton Grammar School, Rockhampton Girls Grammar School, the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens, and heritage-listed properties such as Kenmore House and Wiseman's Cottage.
