About West Rockhampton
West Rockhampton is a suburb of Rockhampton in the Rockhampton Region, Queensland, located 3.1 kilometres west of the Rockhampton central business district. Bounded to the west by Lion Creek and Murray Lagoon in the southern corner, the centre and west of the suburb is occupied by Rockhampton Airport while the eastern part is residential. The Rockhampton Golf Club, an 18-hole par 72 course designed by Al Howard, lies between the airport and the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens. West Rockhampton is home to one of the city's seven Big Bull statues, a Droughtmaster bull outside the airport, which is listed among Australia's Big Things. The Rockhampton Roos Australian Rules Football club are based here and the council operates an Anytime Library at the airport.
