About Speewah
Speewah is a rural locality in the Shire of Mareeba, Queensland, about 42 kilometres north-west of Cairns on the Kennedy Highway. Situated on the eastern edge of the Atherton Tablelands within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, the mountainous terrain rises from 20 to 1,000 metres above sea level and supports dense tropical rainforest. Barron Gorge National Park borders the locality to the east, and the Speewah Conservation Park features tall kauri pines and access to gorge walking tracks near Kuranda.
