About Redlynch

Redlynch is a semi-rural town and suburb of Cairns in the Cairns Region of Queensland, located 11 kilometres north-west of the Cairns CBD. The suburb lies along the valley of Freshwater Creek with mountains in the Whitfield Range including Boiboi Peak at 578 metres and Mooroobool Peak at 609 metres. The Kuranda Scenic Railway passes through the suburb and the heritage-listed Xavier and Sadie Herbert Cottage is a local landmark. Named after Redlynch in England, the railway opened in November 1887 and the Redlynch Hotel was built in 1926.
