About Maadi
Maadi is a small locality in the Cassowary Coast Region of north Queensland, about 14 kilometres north-east of Tully. It is one of the smallest localities in the district, named after a former railway station on the North Coast line which was probably corrupted from the Palestinian place Maadan or the Egyptian Maadi camp where Australian Light Horse units were based during the First World War.
