About Jaffa

Jaffa is a rural locality in the Cassowary Coast Region of Queensland, located about 22 kilometres northeast of Tully and 123 kilometres south of Cairns. The landscape features mountainous terrain rising to 260 metres at Basils Peak in the south and west, with flatter land in the north and east used for sugarcane farming. Parts of Japoon National Park lie within the locality, and the area is served by the North Coast railway line. Named after the former Jaffa railway station established in 1921, itself named after the Middle East city known to Australian World War I troops.
