About Lake Tinaroo
Lake Tinaroo is a rural locality in the Tablelands Region of Far North Queensland that consists almost entirely of the reservoir of the same name. The lake was created by the Tinaroo Falls Dam on the Barron River, completed in 1958 for irrigation, water supply and hydroelectricity generation. The lake is now a popular spot for fishing, water skiing, sailing and swimming, and the locality also contains the Tinaroo Environmental Education Centre.
