About Kairi

Kairi is a small rural town and locality on the Atherton Tableland in the Tablelands Region of Far North Queensland, situated approximately 12 kilometres north-west of Atherton at an elevation of around 700 metres. The town is close to Lake Tinaroo, a major recreational destination for fishing and water sports, and is home to the heritage-listed Kairi Maize Silos. Kairi has a rich agricultural history, including a former Queensland Government research station that operated from 1911 to 2011.
