About Tinaroo
Tinaroo is a rural locality in the Tablelands Region of Queensland, on the shore of Lake Tinaroo, a reservoir formed by damming the Barron River. The town of Tinaroo Falls sits on the eastern edge of the locality beside the lake. The name derives from Tinaroo Creek, believed to come from 'tin hurroo', a shout used by tin miners, and the town was established to house workers during construction of the dam, which ran from 1955 to 1958.
