About Daveson

Daveson is a rural locality in the Cairns region of Queensland, located about 20.7 kilometres north-northeast of Tully and 120 kilometres south of Cairns in the Cassowary Coast Region. Situated in the wet tropics zone with the Bruce Highway entering from the south-west and exiting to the north-west, the area supports sugar cane farming with large fields and a network of cane tramways transporting harvested sugarcane to the South Johnstone sugar mill alongside some cattle farming. The name derives from the Daveson family, with Alfred James Daveson an early settler prominent in local businesses and local government.
