About East Trinity
East Trinity is a coastal rural locality in the Cairns Region, situated on Yidinji country between Trinity Inlet and the Murray Prior Range. Formerly known as Trinity East, the area was a natural wetland of mangroves and samphire flats before being developed for sugar cane in the 1970s. The Queensland Government purchased the 940-hectare site in 2000 to protect the Cairns Scenic Rim, and it is now managed as an environmental reserve.
