About Sunnybank

Sunnybank is a residential suburb about 12 km south of Brisbane's CBD, widely known as the city's premier Asian food and shopping precinct. A high concentration of Asian-Australian restaurants, supermarkets and businesses centres around Sunnybank Plaza, Market Square and the Sunnybank Hotel at Mains Road and McCullough Street. Named after settler Simon Gillespie's 1862 property "Sunnybrae," the suburb transformed from farmland into a multicultural hub from the 1980s onward.
