About Coopers Plains
Coopers Plains is a southern suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, located approximately 11 kilometres southwest of the Brisbane central business district. Originally called Cowper's Plains after Dr Henry Cowper, assistant surgeon at the Moreton Bay Penal Settlement from 1823 to 1832, the name was corrupted to Coopers Plains by 1860. A convict settlement was established in 1828 and the suburb is home to the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital.
