About Karawatha
Karawatha is an outer southern suburb of Brisbane, about 22 kilometres south-east of the CBD, where the majority of land is undeveloped parkland known as Karawatha Forest. The significant open eucalypt woodland reserve serves as an urban green space and wildlife corridor, with the Karawatha Forest Discovery Centre operated by Brisbane City Council. The name is from an Aboriginal word meaning a place with pine trees.
