About Northgate (Qld)
Northgate is a residential and industrial suburb about 10 km north-east of central Brisbane. Its name derives from the railway station, a portmanteau of "North" from the North Coast line and "gate" from Sandgate. The station is a major junction serving the Shorncliffe, Caboolture, and Sunshine Coast lines. Notable features include the Golden Circle cannery and a heritage-listed avenue of Weeping Figs planted along Northgate Road in 1937 to mark the coronation of King George VI.
