About New Farm

New Farm occupies a peninsula formed by a sweeping bend in the Brisbane River, approximately two kilometres east of the CBD. It features heritage Queenslander homes, art deco apartment buildings and colonial-era structures along tree-lined streets, with the heritage-listed New Farm Park and the Brisbane Powerhouse, a converted 1920s electrical substation, as key landmarks. The suburb adjoins Fortitude Valley to the west and was historically known as Brisbane's Little Italy through its postwar Italian immigrant community.
