About Newstead (Qld)
Newstead is an inner northern riverside suburb about 3.6 km northeast of Brisbane's CBD, bounded by Breakfast Creek and the Brisbane River. Known for its urban renewal from a historic industrial precinct of woolstores, wharves and gasworks into a modern high-density residential and lifestyle hub, it features the Gasworks Plaza dining and retail precinct and the heritage-listed Breakfast Creek Hotel from 1889. Newstead House, Brisbane's oldest surviving residence built in 1846, is a notable landmark.
