About Teneriffe
Teneriffe is an inner suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, about 2.5 km north-east of the central business district on the Brisbane River. From the early 1900s it was the heart of Queensland's wool trade, its riverside wharves lined with wool stores, and during the Second World War its wharves served as Australia's largest submarine base. Teneriffe was absorbed into Newstead in 1975 but re-established as a separate suburb in 2010, its former wool stores now converted to apartments.
