About Nobby
Nobby is a rural town on the Darling Downs in the Toowoomba Region of Queensland, about 30 km south of Toowoomba. It grew as a service centre for wheat and dairying after the railway arrived in the late 1800s. The town is associated with author Steele Rudd (Arthur Hoey Davis), who farmed nearby and found inspiration for his On Our Selection stories, and with Sister Elizabeth Kenny, who lived in Nobby and pioneered a treatment for polio.
