About Greenmount (Toowoomba - Qld)
Greenmount is a rural town and locality on the Darling Downs in the Toowoomba Region of Queensland, located 32 kilometres south of Toowoomba on the New England Highway. Originally known as Emu Creek, it was renamed after the property of Donald Mackintosh, a local farmer and member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. The town is notable for its heritage-listed war memorial, unveiled in 1922 by Queensland Governor Sir Matthew Nathan, believed to be the only intact Digger monument by mason William Parkin Prout in Queensland.
