About Rokewood

Rokewood is a town in Golden Plains Shire, Victoria, about 40 kilometres south of Ballarat, on the road linking Geelong to the Skipton district. It grew rapidly as a gold-mining centre in the 1850s, when the Rokewood rush drew diggers to the Mt Misery goldfields. The township retains many 19th-century buildings, including the bluestone Rokewood Presbyterian Church of 1866, and is surrounded by farming country.
