About Rokewood Junction

Rokewood Junction is a rural locality in the Geelong region of Victoria, located about 140 kilometres west of Melbourne and 41 kilometres south of Ballarat in the Golden Plains Shire. Originally a gold-mining township on Little Woady Creek, the area was named for its position at the junction of a back road between Dereel and Pitfield, both gold towns, with two creeks. The landscape features open volcanic plains and low rolling hills between Ballarat and Geelong, supporting sheep, cattle, and cropping enterprises typical of Victoria's agricultural hinterland.
