About Diamond Creek
Diamond Creek is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, about 23 km north-east of the city centre in the Shire of Nillumbik. The suburb takes its name from the creek, said to be named either for stones glistening in the water or for a bull with a diamond-shaped patch that drowned trying to cross it. Gold was discovered along the creek in 1863, and the Hurstbridge railway line follows the watercourse through the suburb. Diamond Creek holds an annual town fair with a torchlight parade and fireworks.
