About St Helena
St Helena is an island locality in Moreton Bay in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, situated approximately 4 kilometres off the coast near Pinkenba. The island was used as a quarantine station from the early 1820s and later housed a correctional facility until 2007. St Helena is now uninhabited and forms part of the Moreton Bay Islands conservation area, with its remnant vegetation and historic structures providing a link to Queensland's early colonial and penal history.
