About Plenty (Vic.)
Plenty is a semi-rural suburb about 21 km north-east of Melbourne, in the Shire of Nillumbik, where the Plenty River cuts through Plenty Gorge Park, a regional parkland of bushland and gullies. The Wurundjeri people visited the gorge seasonally for thousands of years, and the river also feeds the Yan Yean Reservoir, completed in 1857 as Melbourne's first water supply. Largely a green-wedge area of large multi-acre lots beyond the city's Urban Growth Boundary, Plenty has seen little of the suburban growth of its neighbours.
