About Pegs Creek
Pegs Creek is a residential suburb of Karratha in the City of Karratha in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, located approximately 1,530 kilometres north of Perth. Named after the Pegs Creek watercourse, the suburb developed as part of Karratha's transformation from a small settlement into a regional hub driven by the iron ore and natural gas industries. The traditional custodians of the land are the Ngarluma people. Pegs Creek Primary School opened in 1978 and is now an Independent Public School. The suburb is home to the Pegs Creek Oval, a joint school and community facility. Karratha itself was established in 1968 to accommodate mining and port workers for Hamersley Iron and the North West Shelf project.
