About Busselton

Busselton is the central suburb of the city of Busselton in the South West region of Western Australia, located 220 kilometres south-southwest of Perth. The Noongar name Undalup honours Undal, a great Wadandi warrior and leader. The area has been inhabited by Wardandi and Bibulman Aboriginal people for at least 40,000 years. Named after the Bussell family who arrived in 1834, Busselton was one of the earliest settlements in Western Australia. The Busselton Jetty at 1,841 metres is the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere featuring a tourist train, underwater observatory and interpretive centre. St Mary's Anglican Church, built between 1844 and 1845, is allegedly the oldest stone church in Western Australia. Wonnerup House, built in 1859, is a National Trust museum. Western Australia's first railway line, the Ballaarat tramline, was built just north of Busselton in 1871.
