About Yalyalup
Yalyalup is a suburb of the Western Australian city of Busselton, about 5 km from the town centre. The name is a Wardandi Noongar word meaning 'place of many holes', a reduplication of 'yal', the word for 'large hole', with the 'up' suffix meaning 'place of'. After European settlement the area was used for timber milling, with a mill that closed in 1979, and for farming. It now includes the Georgiana Molloy Anglican School and Busselton Margaret River Airport, alongside newer housing estates.
