About Geographe
Geographe is a suburb of Busselton in Western Australia's South West region, situated approximately four kilometres northeast of the city centre on the shores of Geographe Bay. The bay was named in 1801 by French explorer Nicolas Baudin after his ship Geographe. One of the area's earliest European structures, Sandylands, was built from 1840 by Charles Bussell. The suburb was formally established in 1998 from parts of the former East Busselton locality and Wonnerup, with Port Geographe Marina opening the preceding year. Geographe Bay features calm turquoise waters and sheltered beaches, with extensive seagrass meadows supporting diverse marine life including humpback whales and bottlenose dolphins.
