About Tahara West
Tahara West is a locality in the Wimmera region of western Victoria, near Merino. It was part of the Tahara pastoral run established in 1838. The name 'Tahara' is thought to derive from an Aboriginal word describing a spring. The area was subdivided in 1900, and a school operated at Tahara West from 1905 to 1934.
