About Koorlong
Koorlong is a small rural village in the Rural City of Mildura in north-west Victoria, about 15 kilometres south-west of Mildura at the western flank of the irrigation district. The name is thought to derive from an Aboriginal word describing the lightwood tree. Settlement came later than at Mildura, with a school opened in a public hall in 1904, and the surrounding district grows citrus orchards and grapes for dried and table fruit. Koorlong also has the Sunset Strip dragstrip and the Jambaroo Park motorcycle complex.
