About Merbein South
Merbein South is a rural locality in the Mallee region of north-western Victoria, about 16 kilometres west of Mildura. It was part of the Merbein Irrigation Area, where blocks were taken up for fruit-growing after irrigation from the Murray River began in 1910, with dried fruit production becoming the main activity. A state school opened in 1913 and a post office in 1915.
