About Pakenham South
Pakenham South is a rural locality in the Shire of Cardinia, about 59 kilometres south-east of Melbourne, on the southern edge of the Pakenham urban area. The district lies on the traditional country of the Bunurong people and was taken up for grazing in the 1840s, when a pastoral run was established on nearby Toomuc Creek. Dairying and market gardens later became mainstays, and soldier settlement after both world wars expanded fruit and vegetable growing in the area.
