About Notting Hill
Notting Hill is a small residential and commercial suburb in the City of Monash, about 19 km south-east of Melbourne's CBD, between Clayton and Mount Waverley. It was named after Notting Hill in London, a name given to the area by settler Thomas Wilkinson in the late 1870s. Monash University's Clayton campus adjoins the southern boundary, and the Notting Hill Hotel on Ferntree Gully Road has been a local landmark since 1891.
