About Mulgrave (Vic.)

Mulgrave is an eastern suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, about 21 kilometres south-east of the city centre in the City of Monash. It takes its name from Mulgrave Castle in North Yorkshire, honouring Sir George Phipps, the Earl of Mulgrave who served as Governor of Victoria from 1879 to 1884. The suburb gave its name to the Mulgrave Freeway, later renamed the Monash Freeway, and is home to the Jacksons Road interchange, Waverley Gardens Shopping Centre and the former Waverley Park AFL ground.
