About Mount Waverley

Mount Waverley is a large residential suburb about 16 km south-east of Melbourne's city centre, in the City of Monash. It takes its name from a township subdivision of 1854 laid out by an admirer of Sir Walter Scott's Waverley novels, with Mount added in 1905 to distinguish it from nearby Glen Waverley. The suburb's original streets and reserves date from the 1930s, and St Stephen's Anglican church of 1864 is the district's oldest surviving building.
