About Yellingbo
Yellingbo is a town in the Yarra Ranges Shire of Victoria, about 48 kilometres east of Melbourne. It grew from a store opened beside Woori Yallock Creek in 1883 and was known first as Claxton and then as Parslow's Bridge before being renamed in 1946 after the last local Aboriginal resident, whose name means 'today' in the Woiwurrung language. The nearby Yellingbo Nature Conservation Reserve protects the last wild population of the helmeted honeyeater, Victoria's state bird.
