About Woori Yallock
Woori Yallock is a town on the Warburton Highway in the Yarra Valley of Victoria, about 56 km east of Melbourne, in the Shire of Yarra Ranges. The name, recorded in various spellings, comes from an Aboriginal term meaning 'running creek', a reference to the nearby creek and the Yarra River flats. Settled as grazing country from the 1860s and opened up for selection farming in the 1870s, the town grew around timber milling and its railway station from the early 1900s, and is today passed by the Lilydale-to-Warburton Rail Trail.
