About Dixons Creek

Dixons Creek is a rural locality in the Shire of Yarra Ranges in Victoria, immediately north-east of Yarra Glen and 46 kilometres north-east of Melbourne. The creek of the same name, which more or less follows the Melba Highway until it joins Steels Creek, flows through open country taken up for farming when Yarra Glen was settled in the 1870s. Extensive vineyards planted along the Melba Highway have made the locality part of the Yarra Valley wine region, and the town was hit hard by the Black Saturday bushfires of 2009.
