About Steels Creek

Steels Creek is a town and rural locality in the Yarra Ranges of Victoria, about 45 km north-east of Melbourne and 7 km north of Yarra Glen. European settlers took up land there from the 1880s, a school opened in 1886, and a post office operated from 1890 to 1968. The town was badly affected by the Black Saturday bushfires of 2009, which destroyed more than twenty homes and claimed ten lives.
