About Toolangi
Toolangi is a locality on the edge of Toolangi State Forest, about 73 kilometres north-east of Melbourne and 21 kilometres north of Healesville in the Shire of Murrindindi. The name is Taungurung for stringybark, and the area is famed for its towering mountain ash forests and cool rainforest climate, being the cloudiest Bureau of Meteorology site on mainland Australia. The poet C.J. Dennis settled here in 1915, and his gardens survive as The Singing Gardens, open to the public.
