About Carrum
Carrum is a bayside suburb of Melbourne, 33 kilometres south-east of the central business district in the City of Kingston, at the mouth of the Patterson River where it enters Port Phillip Bay. The area was formerly part of the Carrum Carrum Swamp, which was drained in the 1870s by cutting a channel to the bay; the last remnants now survive as the Ramsar-listed Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands. The Patterson River provides boat access and marinas, and Carrum has a surf life saving club and a patrolled beach.
