About Tanjil

Tanjil is a rural locality in the Shire of Baw Baw in Gippsland, north of Moe, where the former gold-mining township of Tanjil once stood. The short-lived town, developed after gold was found in the 1860s, was lost when Blue Rock Dam on the Tanjil River was completed in 1984, flooding the old site. Today the area is forested country around the reservoir and the Tanjil River headwaters.
