About Paynesville (Vic.)
Paynesville is a town on the Gippsland Lakes in East Gippsland, Victoria, between Lake King and Lake Victoria, about 290 kilometres east of Melbourne. Long a fishing and shipbuilding port, it now promotes itself as Victoria's Boating Capital, with a network of canals and a ferry link to Raymond Island, known for its koalas. The Gunaikurnai name for the area was Toonalook.
