About Crooked River
Crooked River is a remote rural locality in the high country of Gippsland, Victoria, within the Alpine National Park and part of the Mitchell River catchment. In the 1860s it was the scene of a gold rush, with discoveries on the Crooked River drawing hundreds of miners and the settlement of Grant becoming the principal town. The Grant Historic Area preserves the goldfields remains.
