About Clifton Creek
Clifton Creek is a locality in the Shire of East Gippsland, situated about 12 kilometres north of Bairnsdale. Gold was first discovered there in the 1860s with substantial mining in the 1890s, and the town was badly damaged by the 2019-20 East Gippsland bushfires which destroyed the local primary school.
