About Sarsfield
Sarsfield is a rural locality in the East Gippsland region of Victoria, situated in the Tambo Valley surrounded by state forest and farmland. The community was significantly impacted by the 2019-20 Black Summer bushfires, when homes were destroyed on 30 December 2019 as fire swept through the area. The locality had previously been affected by the major 1965 Gippsland bushfires, and today Sarsfield maintains a small residential community with connections to the nearby town of Buchan and the wider East Gippsland region.
